Board Certified: American Board of Allergy & Immunology & America Board of Internal Medicine
Dr. Daffern grew up in the Texas panhandle and undertook much of her education and training in Texas. After college, she went to medical school at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX, graduating second in her class. Her father’s family had resided in Ft. Sumner extending back to the times of Billy the Kid. As a result, their family enjoyed many trips to the state of New Mexico, the land of enchantment. It was no surprise to anyone when UNMH was Dr. Daffern’s top pick for completing her Internal Medicine residency. She stayed for several years on the faculty at UNMH during which time her son was born. She then undertook allergy fellowship training at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA where her daughter was born. Dr. Daffern was awarded a research grant from the NIH in the area of allergic respiratory disease and published several papers while at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. After completing the NIH supported research, she moved to Richmond, VA where she practiced at the medical school and later entered private practice. After raising her children she returned back to New Mexico, a place she has long considered home.
